Nursing Diagnoses
- Risk for ineffective breathing pattern during physical activity
Goals
- Pre-treat with controller inhaler before all PE classes
- Full participation in PE and recess
- Zero asthma-related absences
Interventions
- Administer Flovent 44mcg 2 puffs via MDI with spacer before PE
- Quick-relief albuterol available for PRN use
- Monitor for exercise-induced symptoms
Expected Outcomes
- 100% pre-treatment adherence on PE days
- Full PE participation
- No rescue inhaler needed during PE
Emergency Action Plan
If severe symptoms during PE: 1) Stop activity, 2) Administer albuterol 2 puffs, 3) Monitor 15 min, 4) If not improving: call parent at 405-555-0712 and consider 911.
